TBC-106, THE FAILURE TO PROPERLY CAPTURE THE LOC CAN TAKE PLACE AT ANY AP AND IN SOME REP EVENTS AT HONG KONG, THE AIRPLANE INITIALLY TURNED TOWARD THE LOC WITH A 20 TO 30 DEG INTERCEPT ANGLE, BUT CONT THRU THE LOC ON THAT TRACK. WHEN THE AIRPLANE APPROACHED AND CAPTURED GLIDESLOPE, LOC AND G/S WERE ANNUNCIATED ON THE FLT MODE ANNUNCIATION (FMA), THE AUTOPILOT FLT DIRECTOR SYSTEM (AFDS) PROVIDED GUIDANCE TO DESCEND ON THE GLIDESLOPE, EVEN THOUGH THE AFDS WAS NOT ACTUALLY TRACKING THE LOC.

4.1 THE USE OF AN ILS IN ITS PROMULGATED CAT IS SUBJ THE
SGL-IN-SPACE BEING ADEQUATELY PROTECTED FM INTERFERENCE DUE TO THE REFLECTION FM OBJECTS ILLUMINATED BY THE LOC OR GP BEAM.
